Collaborate

“The spirit of true collaboration has a lasting impact on community, and a far-reaching impact on spreading the arts be it music, dance or acting.”

COLLABORATION IS A GREAT MECHANISM FOR BUILDING BRIDGES

As an active performer, teacher, and director, Lucie is always looking for new opportunities to collaborate with other groups in the community, with the single goal of bringing music to everyone, everywhere.

Over the last 10 years, Lucie’s Chamber Flutes have performed many outreach concerts in Calgary and surrounding areas. Performances include Calgary’s famous Lilac Festival, regular concerts for the United Active Living organization, performance for United Way, and a fund raiser for the Red Cross International Disaster Relief fund, pre-concert performances for the Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra and the Red Deer Symphony Orchestra. Past Chamber Flutes concerts have included local dancers, storytellers, actors, high school students and guest artists.

With support from the MRU Conservatory, Lucie has commissioned pieces from local composers, including:

  • Arthur Bachmann’s, Over the Rainbow: Variations for flute choir

  • Claude Lapalme’s arrangements for flute choir

  • Aura Pon’s, Torrent – for flute ensemble and water

As founder and past president of the Flute Club of Calgary, Lucie initiated a partnership with Knox United Church in the heart of downtown Calgary.  Knox United Church has been known for over a century as “The Cathedral of the West.” A beautiful historic Church, home of a world-class pipe organ and with an open-door to the community. With this partnership, the Chamber Flutes has performed in many community events at Knox, including their famous annual Halloween concert!
